Loneliness

Loneliness can be a difficult feeling. It can leave one wondering if there is something wrong with them and they may ponder what brought them into this space in the first place. Regardless of the circumstances, that feeling of loneliness happens for a reason. Sometimes, it is God doing a work that will benefit us, preparing us for what is to come. There are times when individuals in one’s life can be a negative influence, when the expectation of another can get in the way of God’s divine purpose for you.

Think of a moment in your life where you realize God may have been speaking to you. A time when you sat by yourself and felt an undercurrent from the Lord that wanted to flow and direct you. Now, think of the moments or even days after that; the friend or the family member who believed that their problems were more important than your own, or it could have been an individual that thought your ideas were crazy and overly ambitious.

You probably believed them.

You let them swoop in and dribble your time away from you; you let their ideas build a stone wall that may have kept the ideas of God from fully reaching you. The sad part is, many are not even aware that it is happening. It is not until later, when you are finally alone again with your thoughts, that you wonder, “What was God trying to tell me?” The thoughts come and go, but the distractions of your life  can block that path from ever becoming that new road.

That is a reason why God may decide to remove people from your life. You may not want it, or think that you need it, but God knows his plans for you more than you do. Sometimes separating you from others is the only way to get you to listen. Each person born has their own story and destiny, each person capable of great things and experiences.  How many of us will leave this world without doing what it is that we were meant for? How many of us will close our eyes for the last time, never to know what God had planned for us to do? “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.’” (Jer. 29:11-13).  The first verse is one that many people are familiar with, but I also really appreciate the last two, as they indicate that if we look for God, he will hear us and we will find him. Which means that in truth, not one of us has to be ever truly alone.

 God is always there.
