Nothing

Often, the word nothing can be used quite frivolously. One may ask a friend or family member what they have been up to, only to receive the reply of, “oh, nothing,” or “nothing much.” Merriam-Webster defines the definition of nothing as, “a: something that does not exist, b: the absence of all magnitude and quality, and c: NOTHINGNESS: NONEXISTENCE.” So, while the word nothing, does not initially bring thoughts of concern; it is in reality quite a heavy and weighted word.

When Jesus returns, he is coming for his people; those who have the desire to do his will and have tried, (through flaws and all) to better themselves for the glory of God. Those who have lived their lives to honor themselves, ignoring God’s word in exchange for their own idea of freedom, will be unable to come home with him. They will be delegated as representatives of everything God does not want for his children, and as such will unfortunately spend the rest of their existence in torment. It will not matter who one knows, or how much money one may have; our worth will not be scaled upon our own ideals, but through his. Every dollar that has been earned, every house, and every car on this earth will be suddenly worth absolutely… nothing. One’s educational status will not matter, nor a job position; one’s true worth will only be determined by our heavenly Father.

This clearly indicates how what is important can vary from person to person. God’s values, however, never change. They have been etched in the written word for all who are willing and able, which is why it is so important to read the Bible for yourself. We must desire to please God, and do God’s will. For it is through him that we will be able to truly make something  of ourselves. Our lives, no matter how short or long, have the ability to seep into a story God has created for each and every one of us.
